Getting Started

For those who haven't played minesweeper before, or need a refresher, this is basically how the game works:

To begin with, the grid will be blank and you'll have to do some digging to find clues. You can click at random and hope not to dig a mine, or you can use the helpful button I've provided, which will uncover a few safe squares on your first turn for a 10-second time cost

Once some clues are revealed, you may see something like this (green and red coloured squares are indications I added for this guide):
small example

An empty white square (like the three in the middle of the picture) doesn't contain a mine and neither do the eight squares around it.
A square with a number doesn't contain a mine, but the eight surrounding squares contain the indicated number of mines.

In this example, a good place to begin is with the square that says 3: There are only three squares surrounding it that haven't been dug (indicated in red), so we know that these must all contain mines. Put a flag on them to show you've found some mines.
Next, we can look at squares either side of the 3. They both say that they have two mines touching them and both have two squares we've flagged next to them... So we've already found their two mines, which means all their other surrounding squares are safe
They only have one undug, unflagged square each (indicated in green), so we can safely dig them.
Digging them will reveal more clues, which will give you more information to continue round the grid.
